ARTIST’S STATEMENT The media and technology not only enable us to alter our appearance and create the persona or ideal that we desire, but also affect our perceptions of “normal”. We see overly manipulated images of personalities from popular culture everywhere. For this series, I photographed several of my friends and colleagues and then based on their comments during the portrait as well as the changes witnessed in images for commercial use, I manipulated each into “perfected” versions of themselves.
